Three

Happy Birthday to my sweet and precious little man. (Today, you wanted to be referred to as "Sore Throat". You also enjoy being called "Little Bat", "Ladybug", "Pancake", "Nemo", "Captain Canada", "Momma's Sunshine", "Zoom Zoom" and the list goes on as far and wide as your imagination.)
You are such an adventurous and intelligent little man. Yesterday, we discussed bats and echolocation. Today, we found Regina on your new globe. You love politics and trying out big words. You love dinosaurs, bats, bugs, Canada, stickers and cars. You're hysterical! You're already tell me the best jokes! I'm so fascinated by the breadth and depth of your interests. I have a feeling you're going to become one very interesting little boy!
We celebrated 3 by having seeing all your favorite people at the same time. We ate yummy BUG cupcakes and we opened loads of presents (you are a spoiled boy). You laughed and cried as you were overwhelmed by the excitement of it all.
Being 3 opens so many new doors to you. Some will be scary as you try new things. Some will be exciting and fun. I promise that Momma and Daddy will stand by you as you try your wings and test your limits. We'll hold you close when you need it and we'll also give you a little push when you need it. We are so proud of you. You are a delight! I'm so excited to hang out with my three-year-old!

Motivation

Once upon a time, I ran 1/2 marathons, I climbed mountains, I did sit-ups and work out videos. 2 babies later, I have excess flab, little time and very little motivation. However, spring is in the air and my BOB is a great walking buddy. I'm lacking a little motivation and am begging for encouragement. How did you get back into the fitness thing post-baby? Know a great Zumba class or Boot Camp in my neck of the woods you can lure me to? I'm off to strap on my beat up runners and slog/walk the lake. It's a start, right?

Weaned!

It may be a little TMI for you but, Claire is officially weaned and I am FREE! 16 1/2 months and I convinced her that a morning song, snuggle and bottle was much more fun.

I got pregnant with Simon in 2008 and had him in 2009. I was pregnant with Claire when he was weaned at 13 months. She was born in 2010. Now, in 2012, my body is completely my own again!

She turned 17 months yesterday - crazy!

Pukesville

Today is Day #3 of Pukesville at our house.

We awoke to an atrocious smell in Claire's room on Monday morning. Poor sweetie had puked in her sleep, rolled in it and slept until 8:30. We spent the day snuggling and trying to get her to keep something down. Simon was an extra kind brother. He rubbed her back, brought her stories and sang "Soft Kitty" to her.

Monday night was filled with the many, many puke episodes of Simon. We used up our collection of baby blankets and pillows. Poor Tigger took the brunt of it. Tuesday morning was filled with laundry and a PBS marathon.

The kids seemed to perk up after their naps. They drank a lot of Pedialite and kept down some solids.

We had a good night. (Kind of - Simon was awake for a lot of it because he'd slept too much during the day).

This morning, we awoke to many more puking episodes and we're working at keeping things down again. We're having our second PBS marathon. I took them for a walk and we sat on a blanket in the sun. Then, they puked some more, so we retreated to the safety of our leather couch (so easy to clean). There's Jello setting in my fridge for lunch. Nap time is coming soon.

Can we get better soon? I'd like to spend my Easter holidays doing something a little more exciting then snuggling, doing laundry and watching TV (although, the snuggling is nice).

Easter x 2

This year, we celebrated Easter 2 weeks in a row.

We had a fabulous Easter celebration with my family that involved yummy food, fluffy dresses and an Easter egg hunt organized by my sweet sister-in-law.

This past weekend, we trekked east to visit Trevor's Winnipeg relatives. Highlights of this trip include playing Aunts, Uncles and cousins, visiting Oma and Opa, two "cousin parties", a visit to the Children's Museum and the Forks and awesome little car travelers.

Unfortunately, we brought a Manitoban flu bug back with us. Not the best Easter treat for my sweet kids.

Conference, Schmonference

Hello, welcome to our class. Oh, you must be "so and so's" parents. Good to meet you. Did you bring her report card. Excellent.

I like meeting the parents of my students. This year, I happen to love most of my students so, I have nothing but good things to say. However, 4 hours on a Monday night and then 4 hours on a Wednesday night make this girl very, very tired.

Note - getting a "B" is not the end of the world. "Cs get degrees", folks. Most children do not deserve A+s all the time. (Just like every performance does not deserve a standing ovation!) Sigh...
